One of the Portuguese resident visas, according to which the closest family members of a Portuguese resident can live, study and work
in the country.

Who is eligible for the D6 visa

  • the spouse of a person who lives in Portugal;
  • "civil" spouses of people officially living in Portugal;
  • minor children, including adopted;
  • adult disabled children of a resident of Portugal;
  • children studying in the country and not officially married;
  • brothers/sisters of a Portuguese resident who have not reached the age of majority;
  • parents who are dependent on an adult resident of Portugal.

Portugal D6 visa requirements

  • completed and signed application form;
  • a valid international passport with a validity period of at least 6+ months;
  • criminal record certificate (or police certificate), except for persons under 16 years of age and family members of an EU/EEA/Swiss citizen;
  • residence permit card of the main applicant (relative living in Portugal);
  • taxpayer identification number;
  • certificate of absence of debts to the Portuguese state;
  • availability of a residential address;
  • medical insurance or card of the National Health Service of Portugal;
  • for spouses: marriage certificate;
  • for a cohabitant or a "civil" spouse with more than 2 years of cohabitation experience, a certificate of this status issued by an official state body;
  • for a child: a birth certificate, and if he is over 18 years old and unmarried, a certificate of marital status and confirmation of enrollment as a full-time student in a Portuguese educational institution;
  • for a dependent parent: birth certificate of the main applicant residing in Portugal (if the parent's age is less than 65 years — a certificate of absence of income issued by the tax authority of the country of origin).
