Summary of the Canada Family Sponsorship program
A program for close relatives of people officially residing in Canada, with the right to work and study.

Who is eligible for the Canada Family Sponsorship

  • First and foremost, eligible for the family reunification program are:
  • Spouses;
  • Common-law partners with more than one year of cohabitation;
  • Children under the age of 22 who are not legally married or in a civil partnership;
  • Children over the age of 22 if they have a disability.
Reunification is a little more complicated:
  • Parents;
  • Grandparents.
In the case of special circumstances, such as a disability of the applicant, it is possible to move to Canada:
  • Siblings;
  • Nephews and nieces and nephews who are officially Canadian citizens.

Canada Family Sponsorship requirements

  • Valid passport;
  • A family member officially residing in Canada who is willing to finance the relocation and accommodation of the applicant at a rate of + $2,500 per applicant;
  • Health certificate;
  • Notification about criminal record;
  • Medical insurance for the entire period of stay in the country (for at least one year).
Costs associated with a Canada Family Sponsorship
  • One to two years
  • The Permanent Residence Permit is issued for five years.
Terms of obtaining a Canada Family Sponsorship
  • Up to 3 months
  • Initially issued for 12 months.
