Summary of the Italy Start-Up visa program
Visa for entrepreneurs who are ready to open or transfer their innovative startup project to Italy, or invest in an existing one.
Who is eligible for the Italy Start-Up visa
- For startup entrepreneurs from non-EU countries who are ready to create in Italy, or to transfer an innovative business to this country;
- For entrepreneurs ready to enter a startup already existing in Italy.
Italy Start-Up visa requirements
- Age from 18 years old;
- Completed application with a detailed financial and business plan for the startup project;
- Availability of €50 000 in the applicant's account;
- The innovative business must be registered less than 5 years ago;
- The head office of the project is located in Italy, in another EU country, or in an EEA Member State if it has a production office or a subsidiary in Italy;
- The production volume of the startup must be less than €5 million per year;
- The profits of the project have not been previously distributed;
- The company's sole or primary objective is the development, production and sale of an innovative and high-tech product or service;
- The start-up has not arisen as a result of a merger, division of a company or transfer of an enterprise or business sector;
- At least 15% of the project's expenses are related to research and development and at least one-third of the startup's employees have a Ph.D. or master's degree;
- The company must already own some intellectual property.
- The startup must have been open at least 3 years before applying;
- The startup company must be registered in Italy as an SRL or SPA;
- The company must be registered at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry as an innovative startup;
- The applicant must invest in the startup at least €100 thousand of its own funds;
- The applicant must hold the position of chairman, executive director, board member or auditor in the startup company;
- The applicant's professional level must be relevant to the core business of the innovative startup;
- Valid passport;
- Full medical insurance policy with full coverage for at least one year.

Terms of obtaining a Italy Start-Up visa
- Up to 30 days
- After obtaining the visa, the applicant will have six months to enter Italy and eight days after entry to apply for a residence permit.
