A resident visa for "passive income", remoter workers and digital nomads in Portugal, which entitles the entire family to work, study and stay in the country.

Who is eligible for the D7 passive income visa

  • seniors with a monthly pension over €705
  • landlords who can provide proof of monthly rentals of their property anywhere in the world in the amount over €705
  • intellectual property owners who can show regular income off of it
  • beneficiaries of regular income from long-term financial investments with a fixed interest rate, dividends or interest on savings
  • digital nomads with regular income from clients anywhere in the world
  • remote workers with regular payments and confirmed future contacts

Portugal D7 passive visa requirements

  • this program is open to non-EU, EEA, or Swiss citizens
  • apply for a Portuguese NIF (tax number)
  • open an account in a bank in Portugal
  • have at least €7000 in bank account. Married couples — at least €10500. These sums are minimum amounts required for you to "live on" while in Portugal.
  • provide a proof of regular passive income of at least €705/month for the last 6-12 months
  • provide proof of accommodation for the next 12 months (signed lease agreement)
  • provide proof of comprehensive health insurance
  • provide official proof of a clean criminal record

Terms of obtaining a Portugal D7 visa
  • Visa processing time is approximately 60 days (depends on your nationality and local consulate workload and rules). The D7 visa will be valid for 4 months. You will need to apply for a temporary residence permit in Portugal upon arrival within these 4 months.
  • Residence permit processing may take up to 6 months.
